Day 7 BristolWe left Somerset on the tour around 8am Friday morning. We kept our fingers crossed the rain was finally done for our trip thru the Cumberland Gap. The night before was very stormy. We headed down 25E then thru the Cumberland tunnel which was really cool. We then came out onto hwy 58 on to Bristol thru the gap. If you have never been up to the Cumberland Gap parkway, I highly suggest going. For those living in Tennessee it’s only about an 80 mile drive from Knoxville. We got to Bristol around Noon and staging lanes were already packed for drag racing. Jon then got the Dodge truck ready for some drag racing.  We dialed the timing and set the fuel pressure to race trim. Our first pass out we ran 15.30 @ 91.00 mph pretty slow for 630hp. We changed the timing again and this time we did a second gear burn out that worked out much better to get the slicks hot. It worked we ripped 14.00 flat at 102 mph. The truck still needs some tuning so there is at least another 2 seconds to lose. We then found another 64 D-100 truck at Bristol running a 340 V8. Jon asked him if he wanted to run a D-100 grudge match and he was up for it. When the two trucks hit the starting line it got the attention of the hot rod staff and the cameras starting flying. Once again I hope it makes Hot Rod mag. The crowd was good all day. It was not as busy as the other stops surprisingly until we found out the city of Bristol didn’t really do anything to promote it. But it was still a good turn out. We did an exhaust giveaway on stage to the first person that jumped up that had a 68 model year car. So that’s it from the years PowerTour, we have not heard any announcements of next years route. But we are already looking forward to next year. Cherry Bomb has definitely become a fixture on the tour. People are always excited to see us and have great things to say about our products. Let’s hope its starts out in Tennessee next year. Enjoy the pictures
